Before you start reading this amazing blog post, I realized the title might be a little misleading. No it did not take 10 years for them to renovate Indy. Just read the blog and you'll see. It's new ship season! We've seen many new ships and many ships refurbed to look like new so far this year. The latest of these like new ships is Royal Caribbean's Independence of the Seas. After 10 years of service (her anniversary just happened to be yesterday), Royal Caribbean decided she deserved some upgrades.

Many of these highly anticipated upgrades include new lounges; an interactive water park with new water slides, water cannons, fountains, pools, and a drench bucket; the addition of Izumi with Teppanyaki grills; panoramic ocean view staterooms (sign me up); an updated ice rink; revamped Royal Theater; laser tag; a trampoline park; and an escape room. See the infographic below for more details:Independence of the Seas

Independence of the Seas is headed to Southampton, where she will sail her summer cruising season before returning to her homeport of Fort Lauderdale for the winter.

Check out some of these cool Independence of the Seas refurb pics from her dry dock:

Indy was already a really cool ship in the first place, and now she's got even more to offer! I've seen her in port a couple of times, and it was pretty cool! I can't imagine what she looks like now!

Thanks to Matt Hochberg from Royal Caribbean Blog for some of these pics and information about Indy's new do!
