Royal Caribbean Takes Delivery of World's Largest Cruise Ship
Royal Caribbean is now officially the owner of the world's newest and largest cruise ship, Symphony of the Seas. On Friday, the cruise line accepted ownership from builder STX France. Symphony takes the title of largest cruise ship in the world away from her sister, Harmony of the Seas, after only one year. Symphony comes in at a total of 228,081 gross tons, and 1,188 feet long. She can carry up to 5,518 passengers, at double occupancy, in 2,759 cabins. Just like her sister ships in the Oasis-class, Symphony features the seven different neighborhood divisions, and the tallest slide at sea.
CEO of Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. Richard Fain made a statement saying ,"I have a problem with us being known as the largest cruise ship in the world. It is, but that's not what we set out to do. We set out to build the best cruise ship in the world, and have done it magnificently. Together, we've made some truly amazing music with STX."
She is the fourth Oasis-class ship, which have been putting the world at awe for the past nine years. Even though she shares similarities with her sisters, Symphony of the Seas is definitely set to impress in many new and different ways.
