Last Thursday at around 6:30 PM, Boston Coast Guard was dispatched to the Anthem of the Seas after receiving a call of a passenger with a medical emergency.

It is reported that a 34-year-old male passenger was experiencing severe leg pain. Anthem was then met by the Coast Guard Cutter “Shrike” from Bayonne. The Shrike transferred the man at around 8:30 PM. A 45 foot Response boat from Station Jones Beach then met the Shrike for another transfer, where he would be brought to shore.

By 11:30 PM, the man had been taken by an ambulance to Nassau University Medical Center in East Meadow, New York.

At the time of the incident, Anthem had just left her home-port of Cape Liberty, New Jersey for a nine day cruise to New England and Canada.
