Two Cruisers Killed on Excursion in Middle East

It is reported that two British women have been killed in Salalah, Oman.

As the two unnamed women were stepping off of the Boudicca, owned and operated by Fred Olsen Cruises, an unlicensed driver veered into the wrong lane and hit the two cruisers. A third man involved in this incident was seriously injured, but is reportedly in stable condition.

The accident occurred at around 11 AM on Thursday, September 27. All three of the victims were guest on-board the Boudicca for an “Authentic Arabia” cruise.

Fred Olsen Cruises published a statement on their website saying, “Royal Oman Police preliminary reports suggest the cause of the accident was the driver’s deviation from his lane. The driver also did not hold a driving license. Further investigations into the accident are ongoing.”

A senior member of Fred Olsen’s UK head office team has flown to Salalah to provide additional assistance and a crew member on-board the Boudicca.

Fred Olson says they're continuing to work closely with the local tour operator, the authorities in Salalah, and Oman and the UK Foreign & Commonwealth Office in order to provide support for those affected by this incident.
