Norwegian Cruise Lines has just released the hull art for their newest ship, that is currently being built, the Norwegian Joy. The Norwegian Joy will feature a large red phoenix on its hull. The ship will sail in China year-round. The Chinese artist responsible for this design is Tan Ping. The hull art on some of the newer ships was also done by artists. For example, the Norwegian Escape was done by Guy Harvey. The Norwegian Breakaway was done by Peter Max. The Norwegian Getaway was David Le Batard.

“The Phoenix symbolizes beauty and good luck in Chinese culture, and Norwegian Joy will bridge across the West and the East and bring Chinese people’s best wish to the world and everyone in her path,” said Tan Ping, a painter, print maker and educator.

The Norwegian Joy will begin sailing from Beijing and Shanghai next summer.
