Spectrum of the Seas Meets Big Milestone
Today Royal Caribbean released a video showing the unique process in which the Spectrum of the Seas is being built. Below you can watch the ship's FERU (Floating Engine Room Unit) make an eight-hour move in preparation for its ten day journey.
Spectrum is currently being built block by block. Each mega-block is being constructed in Neptun Werft, Germany. Once a block is finished, it is transferred via hydraulics onto a pontoon, which then travels down the Ems River to the Meyer Werft shipyard in Papenburg, Germany.
The 168,800 ton, 4,200 passenger Spectrum of the Seas is set to debut in 2019, and is being built to appeal to the Chinese cruising market.
